Man, you can jack me for almost anything but my laptop & my music! Sorry to hear that this link was taken from you & I agree with XP, it sounds like a crack move 100%.

Replacing them is going to be rough, or at least it would be in my case. If & when you replace, I say download anything you can & for classics, you must have the CD, especially "Ready to Die"!

"What’s a young brother to do ?" Easy, sale that bitch (if you can in today's market) and reflect later. Safety & sanity is necessary for you, the LL & any little ones to flourish.

I understand your dilemma completely. My husband and I decided to move out of a bad neighborhood after - the two apartments above us had been broken into to (there were only four apartments in the unit), and the front door to the entire building had been kicked in TWICE! Once in the middle of the night and once while we were at work all day.

I completely understand your desire to help uplift the black community (as if you're not doing enough teaching), but prior to integration when all black people (regardless of class) lived in the same neighborhood, poor people had morals and values. You did not rob your neighbor and innocent people were not getting murdered. Unfortunately, the moral fabric of the poor black community has nearly disappeared.

Each day here in Chicago, another young innocent victim is murdered. Recently an 8 year old was raped and stabbed to death and thrown in an alley. I used to think of myself as a traitor too, and wondered if I was becoming elitist, but now that my husband and I have been in the "good neighborhood" for about 2 years now - I can sleep more peacefully at night, I can walk my dog (or myself lol) after dark and I don't have a panic attack every time I get out of my car at night. Peace is priceless and until the moral fabric of our community appears again, I will live in a "good" neighborhood away from all the madness. The best advice I can give for you is to think about your future children. I DO NOT want my children growing up in a bad neighborhood (whenever I have them) and I'm sure both you and your wife would say the same.

>>"However, these public displays of misogyny would not be possible if the women being “degraded” weren’t complicit in the acts themselves. "

Me: This is strikingly similar to the idea that a raped woman must have done something to "ask for it."

>>"Contrarily, my opinion is that the misogynist behavior exhibited by ALL men in this country is a biproduct of the world’s history of Patriarchal religious and political structures which, in turn, influence everything from the way the sexes dress to the way the sexes view…well…sex."

Me: With this I agree but...

>>"I do not want to give the impression that I’m blaming women for the actions of these men. It is up to the women to solve this problem. However, before blaming the men themselves, consider what made them that way. "

Me: ... putting aside who's to blame, yes, it's important to consider what made them that way and try to change the root. But, if the women, as you seem to assume, have the consciousness of the situation to analyze it and change their behavior, so can the men. Why can they not take part in improving the situation rather than leaving it "up to the women" to solve a problem which is a problem for the whole black community?

I saw her in concert a couple of months ago. One of the best shows I've ever witnessed. Hopefully she makes an appearance during the Rock The Bells Hip Hop Tour here in Chicago in July.
